Foundation build

Build the marketing infrastructure your specialist business needs

A fixed-scope project that puts the marketing foundations of a specialist business in one coherent state. What gets built depends on what you already have. Whatever the scope, the work is planned together so your positioning, website, search and content support the same strategy.

THE PROBLEM

The pieces might all be there. They just don't work together.

Many firms already have parts of their marketing in place. They may have a website, some content, active social profiles or previous SEO work. The problem is often that these were created at different times, by different providers and for different priorities.

The result can be unclear positioning, inconsistent messages, limited search visibility and unreliable performance data. Fixing one piece at a time may add more activity but will not necessarily resolve the underlying gaps.

The Foundation Build brings the relevant work into one defined project. We identify what can stay, what needs improvement and what is missing before confirming the scope, price and timeline.

If a prospective client searches for your business before making contact, what they find should build confidence in your expertise and make taking the next step feel like an easy decision.

WHAT CHANGES

What a stronger foundation helps your firm do

Explain your value more clearly

Clear positioning and consistent messaging help prospective clients understand what your firm does, who it is relevant to and what sets it apart.

Improve how your firm is found

A properly configured search foundation makes it easier for search engines and AI-assisted search tools to understand your services, expertise and location.

Support more relevant enquiries

Clear service information, useful content and a straightforward path to contact help prospective clients assess whether your firm is the right fit before enquiring.

Make marketing easier to manage

Connected systems, reliable tracking and clear documentation give your team a better basis for future decisions without repeatedly piecing together work from different providers.

WHAT’S BUILT

Six areas, scoped to what you already have

The build looks at the same six core areas first. The amount of work required in each one depends on your existing marketing, priorities and budget. Some firms need a new website. Others need clearer positioning, stronger search visibility or better tracking. The scoping process determines what should be retained, improved or created.

01

Positioning and messaging

We clarify how your firm explains its services, expertise and relevance to the clients it wants to reach. The work may include your value proposition, key messages, audience priorities and the language used across your website, content and campaigns.

02

Website design and build

Depending on what you already have, we may build a new website or improve the structure, design and copy of your existing site. The agreed scope can cover page planning, copywriting, design, calls to action, technical setup and preparation for search. Larger or more complex websites are scoped individually.

03

SEO and AI-search visibility foundation

We put the technical and on-page foundations in place to help search platforms understand your business. This can include keyword research, technical SEO, page optimisation, metadata, Google Search Console and improvements that support visibility in AI-assisted search. Rankings and visibility cannot be guaranteed, but the work gives your firm a stronger basis for being found.

04

Google Business Profile and local presence

Where location is relevant to how clients find your firm, we configure or improve your Google Business Profile and check that important business information is accurate and consistent across relevant online listings.

05

Content foundation

We create three to five substantial pieces of content based on the agreed priorities. These may include case studies, capability articles or specialist service pages. Each piece has a defined purpose and uses language and a tone suited to your prospective clients, whether it is explaining an important service, answering a recurring question or supporting a relevant search opportunity.

06

Analytics, tracking, and handover

We configure the agreed analytics and search tools, which may include Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console and enquiry tracking. You also receive handover documentation, a reporting template and training on the systems created during the project. A 30-day post-launch support period is included.

Additional work where it supports the project

The following services can be included when they are relevant to the agreed goals. They are scoped and priced separately.

Optional

Google Ads setup and campaign build

Keyword research, campaign structure, ad copy, conversion tracking and initial campaign optimisation, connected to the relevant website or landing pages.

Optional

Video production

Planning, scripting, filming and editing for a capability video, case study, promotional video or other agreed format.

Optional

Photography

Team, workplace or environmental photography planned around how the images will be used across the website and wider marketing.

Optional

Social media profile setup

Setup or improvement of agreed social profiles, including branding, profile copy and connections to the website.

Optional

AI training

Practical training to help your team use AI tools in marketing more effectively and understand where human review, business context and subject-matter expertise remain important.

Timeline

You'll know your completion date before work begins

Duration follows scope. A build that’s mostly repair work finishes faster than one including a new website, video or photography. Phases overlap on purpose: positioning informs design before the build starts, and search and content work run alongside it rather than after it. The scoping call gives you a completion date, and that’s the date the project is run to.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS

From scoping call to completed foundation

Scoping conversation

We begin with a 60-minute conversation about your firm, priorities and current marketing. We review the assets already in place and determine which areas require work.

Scope, price and timeline

You receive a written scope explaining what will be retained, improved or created. The project price, payment schedule, responsibilities and target completion date are confirmed before you decide whether to proceed.

Discovery and planning

We work through the positioning, audiences, key messages and practical requirements that will guide the project. Review points and the information we need from your team are agreed early.

Build and review

The agreed website, search, content, tracking and additional work is completed in coordinated stages. You review the work at agreed points rather than managing each activity separately.

Handover and support

Once the work is approved, we complete the technical handover and provide the relevant files, documentation and training. The included 30-day support period covers questions and agreed post-launch adjustments.

Your review fee is credited in full

If you completed a 5-Day Marketing Review within the previous 30 days, the full NZ$650 fee is credited towards your Foundation Build. You’ve already paid for the diagnosis, you shouldn’t pay for it twice.

The review findings also give us a significant head start on the scoping because we have already examined your current position and priorities.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you enquire

What does a Foundation Build cost?

There’s no single figure, because the work depends on the state of what you already have. A firm needing repair work and a search foundation pays a fraction of what a firm needing a new website, content and video pays. The scoping call establishes which areas actually need work, and the price is fixed from there before anything is signed. If the scope that fits your business is smaller than you expected, that’s what you’re quoted.

Because the scope varies. A build that’s mostly repair and setup work is a much shorter project than one starting from a blank page. On top of that, video production adds four to six weeks depending on complexity, location and post-production, Google Ads campaigns add two to four weeks for setup, testing and initial optimisation, and a larger website adds time to the design and build phases. The scoping call produces a realistic completion date for your project, not an optimistic estimate.

Your website address, any current brand assets (logo, brand guidelines), examples of competitor or aspirational websites, and your availability for review sessions during the build. Copywriting, design, technical setup and content creation are included, so you don’t need to write anything yourself. For video or photography, we coordinate location, schedule and any third-party providers as part of the project.

After handover you own and manage your website. We provide full training, documentation and a 30-day post-launch support period. For ongoing marketing, continued SEO, content, Google Ads management and monthly reporting, the Marketing Partner picks up where the Foundation Build finishes. Many clients move to the retainer after completing the build.

Hosting is not included in the Foundation Build price. We recommend, configure and set up your hosting as part of the project, typically a managed WordPress host at $20 to $40 NZD per month. You own the hosting account directly; we configure it and hand it over at project completion.

Yes. The standard structure is 50% at project commencement and 50% on completion. For larger projects or those with extended timelines, milestone-based payment schedules can be agreed during the scoping call.
